On March 22, the Francophone Business Forum was organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in collaboration with the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) in Ho Chi Minh City.
At the forum, Mr. Duong Anh Duc, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, assessed that MECA, including more than 80 businesses coming to Ho Chi Minh City, is a good opportunity for economies and businesses in the community. Francophones learn, connects and create new supply chains in global trade flows.
Besides, business and investment opportunities in Ho Chi Minh City are many and can become a launching pad for OIF’s business community in Southeast Asia to participate more deeply in the production supply chain of the OIF region and the world.
“Typically, OIF’s business community has favorable conditions to exploit a variety of free trade agreements of which Vietnam is a member, such as the Vietnam-European Union Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), the Regional Comprehensive Partnership Agreement (RCEP), and the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA). On the part of the Ho Chi Minh City government, we always promote the realization of cooperation opportunities and connect the business communities of all parties,” Mr. Duong Anh Duc further shared.
And Mr. Hoang Quang Phong, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), said that since becoming an official member of the OIF, Vietnam has always been an active member, playing an important role in the OIF in the Asia-Pacific region, ready to be a bridge to promote relations between the Francophone community and ASEAN.
Currently, Vietnam is in the core group of members, having a voice in the planning and implementation of cooperation strategies of the Francophone community in all fields, especially economic cooperation.
Within the framework of the event in Ho Chi Minh City from March 22–23, 2022, MECA in Vietnam this time also participated in many notable activities, including visiting and working at a number of Vietnamese businesses, meeting face-to-face, attending industry-specific discussion sessions, etc.
